DG Competition Workshop on Demand Response

Date & Time: 21 March 2024 (Thursday), 09:30-12:00 CEST

Format: on-line (MS Teams)

The Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission is conducting a study about “Barriers for demand response participation in electricity markets and State aid support”, with the support of a consortium comprising joint partners: BIP Consulting, Grimaldi Studio Legale and MRC Consultants.

Results of this study, expected in July 2024, should provide factual elements on the functioning of the energy markets and the participation of demand-response therein as well as in state aid schemes. It should also help Member States in the organization of efficient energy markets and in the design of state aid schemes that contribute to energy flexibility without undue distortions of competition and trade.

The event is addressed to energy regulators and operators, competition authorities, energy business associations, representatives of national authorities responsible for state aid and energy matters, demand response operators and aggregators.

If you belong to one of such categories you are invited to attend this webinar which will take place on Thursday, 21 March. The event will be hosted online, starting at 09:30 CET.

We aim to provide a focused exchange and discussion on the preliminary findings from the on-going study and we wish to collect your valuable feedback about it.
